Hi Friends! Here are a few books that I recommend to get through some of the various seasons of life.
1. The Bible
The Bible covers everything we need for every Season of life. If you are new to the word of God, I recommend starting in the book of Psalms and the book of Proverbs. After you find your level of comfort, go to the very beginning (the book of Genesis) and allow God to unfold to you His plans from start to end. Both the old and new testament are important because it allows us to understand God and his plans for humanity. I always say, if we had a book of our own life, would we want someone to only read one chapter and only know us by that chapter? I see God the same way. Let’s get to know Him by reading His word and seeking His heart through prayer and worship.
My recommendations are KJV or ESV. I also love the Holy Bible app. You can download it to your phone or iPad.

2. Fervent by Priscilla Shirer
This book was inspired by the feature film “War Room.” If you have yet to see this movie, you’ve got to watch it. This film will inspire you and your prayer life. The film “War Room” and the book Fervent helped me to expand my prayer life!

3. Cling ~ Choosing a Lifestyle of Intimacy with God. by Kim Cash Tate
This book encourages you to get through the disappointments and the trying times in life. Kim Cash Tate also has a series on YouTube called “Cling” (check it out below). The series was so good and very relatable. I’m looking forward to supporting more of her work! She is truly operating in her calling.

4. The Game of Life. Releasing the Weight when God says Wait. By Dacia James Lewis.
First, I must say this book is special. I met Dacia at the Black Writers Weekend conference in Atlanta this year. She is such a sweet soul and not to mention she’s from H-town (Houston) like myself. Once I started reading “The Game of Life”I couldn’t put it down as the book was so engaging. Her writing was as though I were listening to a friend. I could hear her and feel the emotion of her words. In this book you will go through her journey with her, and if you are in a season of waiting and praying this book is for you! I feel that you will get through waiting better and find a sense of calm and trust. “The Game of Life” is very authentic, transparent and full of life, real life. Most importantly, you won’t feel alone in your season of waiting any longer.
I hope you finds these books as encouraging and helpful as I have.
